Baseball Betting System

Now that half the season is over, a few players have jumped to the top of the MVP race in each league. We've seen good action in our online sportsbooks and the interest always picks up as the season approaches the final stretch.

Below are the odds on the American League :

Adrian Beltre (BOS) 20/1
Carl Crawford (TB) 15/1
Evan Longoria (TB) 15/1
Josh Hamilton (TEX) 5/2
Justin Morneau (MIN) 6/1
Kevin Youkilis (BOS) 20/1
Miguel Cabrera (DET) 1/1
Paul Konerko (CWS) 28/1
Robinson Cano (NYY) 5/1
Vladimir Guerrero (TEX) 20/1

Miguel Cabrera is the deserved favorite. The Tigers’ first baseman has been a hitting machine in 2010, leading the majors in RBI and second to only Toronto’s Jose Bautista in homers. Cabrera also hits for average, making him a legitimate Triple Crown threat. Could he become the first to pull off the Triple Crown since Boston’s Carl Yastrzemski did it in 1967? At the moment, it’s a very real possibility. And if that happens, he’s a lock to win MVP.

If not Cabrera for MVP, most bettors appear to think Josh Hamilton (5/2) will win the award. Hamilton is like Cabrera in that he puts up big numbers in homers, RBI and batting average. As it stands, it looks like Cabrera and Hamilton in a two-horse race for MVP, especially taking into account Justin Morneau’s.

On the National League, we have the odds below:

Adam Dunn (WAS) 33/1
Adrian Gonzalez (SD) 4/1
Albert Pujols (STL) 6/5
Andre Ethier (LAD) 25/1
David Wright (NYM) 20/1
Hanley Ramirez (FLA) 20/1
Joey Votto (CIN) 10/9
Ryan Howard (PHI) 10/1
Ubaldo Jiminez (COL) 28/1

It will be interesting to see if Joey Votto can keep producing at the same level he did during the first half of the season. Not many people saw this coming from Votto, who’s nearly surpassed his career highs (25 HR, 84 RBI) in less than 100 games played. Albert Pujols certainly has the more impressive body of work, but expect this race to go right down to the wire.
